About
Kathie Hammond Greer, Ph.D., MS, LMSW, LCAC, SC-NP, is a veteran educator, author, and educational consultant (CEO, MHG Consulting, LLC). Her educational certifications include superintendent, secondary principal/supervisor, school psychologist, and school social worker. She also holds licenses as master social worker, adolescent counselor, and notary. Dr. Greer earned designation as a Principal Specialist, Principal Leader, and S.C. Education Fellow. She is an adjunct professor in the College of Education at Southern Wesleyan University, and a Methods of Teaching instructor for SC Labor & Licensing Boards of Cosmetology and Barbering. She is certified as a National Dropout Prevention Specialist, National Trauma Skilled Schools Specialist, and International Restorative Practices Trainer. She also serves as a Project Consultant for the National Dropout Prevention Center. She founded and facilitates/coordinates Sister Soul’diers and Warriors of Hope, two community support and collaboration experiences for women and men in Lancaster, SC. She is involved in other local and state level initiatives focused on improving schools, school systems, and communities.
Dr. Greer began her professional career as a clinical psychologist. She transitioned into the field of education in 1986, serving as a secondary school and district office administrator since 1990. Dr. Greer has served as principal of a high school with a very diverse, urban-suburban, mostly affluent population (over 37 languages represented), a rural high school with a population that was basically fifty-percent Caucasian and fifty-percent African American with primarily middle to low income families, and an urban-suburban alternative school that served a wide range of income levels, middle and high school students, teen parents, and two school districts. She served as a state appointed principal specialist in an inner city high school whose population was 99.9 percent African American, 97.9 percent poverty, and 20% special needs. She also served as Director of Adult Education in one of the state’s highest performing districts. Her current primary employment is with Greenville County Schools (the largest SC school district, and 44th in the nation) as Director of Alternative Education.
Professional Instruction
The Methods of Teaching course is typically scheduled over a six-week period, several times throughout the year depending on demand. Clients who have previously taken the instructor certification exam and were not successful, are accepted for individualized assistance to prepare for re-examination. The syllabus and registration form for the next scheduled class are provided below.
Consultation
Consultation services range from developing local and system-wide program/intervention models, to assisting with proposals for implementation and/or funding of projects.
Training is available in the areas of dropout prevention and restorative practices.
Mentoring and internship supervision for professionals in the social science and education fields is also available

Cost for Methods of Teaching Course
Payments should be cash, cashier’s check or money order made to MHG Consulting, LLC. Fees are non-refundable. Register using the contact form at the bottom of this site page and submit payment of registration fee by mail or in person to secure your slot in the class. Registration is not complete until payment is received.
Full Course $950; (Includes a $100 non-refundable registration fee due prior to start date). Mail payment to 3282 Cimmeron Road, Lancaster, S.C. 29720. Balance is due by the beginning of course.
Remediation for persons who previously tested unsuccessfully $425

Services
Areas of expertise include Trauma-Informed, Trauma-Skilled, and Restorative Practices training, dropout prevention, development of innovative program models for grant proposals, school-level student assistance and intervention programs, district-wide prevention and intervention initiatives, school scheduling models that facilitate differentiation and maximizes staff resources, utilizing existing resources to develop career academies, and mentoring aspiring, inexperienced, and veteran building-level administrators. Dr. Greer has experience supervising internships for undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of social work, psychology, and educational administration.
